Introduction
Cleaning the condensate drain and its collection pan prevents water leaks, stops ice from forming on the interior walls, lowers energy use, and noticeably extends the life of your refrigerator. Follow this procedure whenever you notice water pooling inside the fridge, excess frost, or every time you perform a thorough interior cleaning.

Tools
-
-
Remove all food, shelves, and drawers from the refrigerator and freezer compartments.
-
Clean the removed parts manually or place them in a dishwasher if the material allows.
-
-
-
Wipe the rear interior wall with a soft cloth and mild detergent solution.
-
Clear any large spills or residues from the wall before wiping.
-
-
-
Insert the original plastic cleaning stick into the drain hole at the wall base.
-
Use a wooden skewer, drinking straw, or cotton swab if the stick is missing.
-
Gently push through the channel to dislodge debris without forcing the tool.
-
-
-
Pour a small amount of clean water into the drain opening to flush loosened debris.
-
Allow the water to run through; repeat the flush until it drains freely without pooling.
-
Confirm the drain is clear when water flows straight through without delay.
-
-
-
Pull the refrigerator forward to gain unobstructed access to the rear panel.
-
Remove the unit completely from cabinetry if it is an integrated installation.
-
-
-
Locate the condensate pan above the compressor and identify its four mounting screws.
-
Loosen the two upper screws two to three turns, leaving them partially engaged.
-
Remove the two lower screws completely and support the pan as you work.
-
-
-
Lift the pan slightly and tilt it outward to release it from the upper screws.
-
Have a helper steady the pan and tubing while you slide it free of the mount.
-
Rest the pan on top of the compressor area to keep strain off the pipes.
-
-
-
Rinse the pan under running water until all dirt and residue are removed.
-
Tighten the two upper screws temporarily so the mounting plate cannot fall during cleaning.
-
Vacuum dust from the condenser coils using a brush attachment.
-
-
-
Wipe the condenser coils and surrounding surfaces with a damp cloth to remove remaining dust.
-
-
-
Slightly loosen the two upper screws again to create clearance for reassembly.
-
Slide the cleaned pan back onto the same mounting holes used previously.
-
Align the pan horizontally and hand‑tighten all four screws.
-
Fully tighten the screws once the pan sits level on the compressor.
-
With the condensate drain and pan clean, your refrigerator can remove moisture efficiently, prevent leaks, and run with less strain on the compressor. Repeat this maintenance as needed to keep the appliance in top condition.
