Ashkenazi charoset is a variety of charoset that uses apples and walnuts as the base, with honey for sweetness.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups (360 g) peeled, cored, and chopped apples (e.g. MacIntosh)
- ¾ cup (180 g) finely-chopped walnuts
- 2 tbsp sweet red wine
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp honey
Procedure
- Mix all ingredients together, and refrigerate overnight for best flavor.
- Adjust seasoning, if necessary, after it's chilled.
- Serve with matzoh, or just eat with a spoon.
