Fërgesë of Tirana with veal (Fergesë e Tiranës me Mish Viçi) is an Albanian dish.
Ingredients
- 1 pound veal cutlets, cubed
- ½ pound salted cottage cheese or Greek feta cheese
- 1 tablespoon flour
- ¼ lb (1 stick) butter
- 3 tablespoons virgin olive oil
- 1 medium-sized onion, diced
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Chili pepper
Procedure
- In a saucepan, preheat the olive oil. Sauté the meat and onion for 15 minutes.
- In another saucepan, melt the butter and add flour, cottage cheese, and black pepper, salt and chili pepper to taste.
- Mix all the ingredients together (adding the sautéed meat and onions) in the saucepan.
- Bake in a preheated 350 °F oven for 15 minutes.
- Take out and serve immediately.
Notes, tips, and variations
- Instead of veal cutlets, beef liver can be used in the same quantity, following the same instructions as above.
