Texas is a state located in the south-central region of the United States. It is the second most populous state in the nation (after California). The state capital is Austin, and the largest city is Houston.

The state borders Oklahoma to the north, Louisiana to the east, New Mexico to the west, and Arkansas to the northeast. It also borders the Mexican states of Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas to the southwest.
