Anthropy, Ltd is a company that facilitates the networking of UK senior leaders from businesses, NGOs, academia and government, centred around a three-day annual gathering at the Eden Project.[2][3] Anthropy was conceived by businessman John O'Brien in 2021 as "the UK equivalent of the Davos gathering" – a way to strengthen the UK and re-envisage its role in the world after the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and Brexit.[4][5] It focuses on topics such as responsible business, sustainability and cross-sector collaboration.[3][6]
The first annual gathering in November 2022 attracted around 1,000 attendees ('Anthropists') from the education, health and media sectors and comprised 184 sessions including speakers such as Mayor of London Sadiq Khan, Mary Portas and Rachel Reeves.[5][7] The Environment Agency led several sessions and events[6] and were involved in Anthropy 2023 as well.[8]
More recently, the event has seen around 2,000 attendees and sessions have been described as less idealistic than in former years.[9] Anthropy has also developed into a year-round membership network in addition to an annual gathering.[4]
