Buket Öztürk (born 30 December 2001 in Bursa) is a Turkish bocce player. She currently competes for Çekirgespor. Öztürk has won two gold and two silver medals at the World Championships, one gold at the World Cup and at the Mediterranean Games, and one gold and one silver medal at the European Championships.
Early life
Buket Öztürk was born on 30 December 2001 in Bursa, Turkey. She studied Physical Education at Bursa Uludağ University.[1]
Career
She began her career at Hasanağa TOKİ İÖO GSK,[2] and later transferred to Çekirgespor.[3]
In September–October 2017, at the Balkan Youth Petanque Championships in Sofia, she won three gold medals in precision throw, doubles and triples events.[4][5] At the 2018 World Championships in Jiaxing, she became world champion in the precision throw, defeating her Serbian opponent 20–9 in the final. Together with İnci Ece Öztürk, she also won a silver medal in traditional doubles.[6]
At the 2019 Women’s World Cup in Mersin, she again teamed up with İnci Ece Öztürk and won gold medals in all three contested events: precision, progressive and doubles.[7]
In October 2021, she won gold in precision throw at the World Championships in Alassio, defeating Pauline Gouilloud in the final.[8]
At the 2022 Mediterranean Games in Oran, she defeated Italy’s Valentina Basei 14–7 in the final to secure the gold medal in the precision throw.[9]
At the 2022 European Championships in Ljubljana, she won gold in women’s doubles with İnci Ece Öztürk, and silver in the precision throw.[10]
In November 2023, at the World Women’s and Mixed Bocce Championships in Rumilly, she reached the quarterfinals in the women’s relay together with İnci Ece Öztürk, losing to France. In the precision throw she won the silver medal after losing in the final.[11]
Personal life
Her older sister, İnci Ece Öztürk, is also a bocce player.[8]
