"Here's 2 Us" is a song by the Victorious cast featuring American actress and singer Victoria Justice. The track was officially released on Victorious 3.0: Even More Music from the Hit TV Show, the show's second and final extended play, on November 6, 2012. The song also appeared in the episode "One Thousand Berry Balls". The track was written by Evan Bogart, Michelle Branch, Lindy Robbins, and Emanuel Kiriakou, with production handled by Kiriakou. "Here's 2 Us" is an upbeat pop song and charted at number eight on the US Billboard Kid Digital Song Sales chart.
Release
"Here's 2 Us" was first released on November 6, 2012, as the first track on Victorious 3.0: Even More Music from the Hit TV Show, the second and final extended play for the American teen sitcom Victorious.[1][2][3] The song was then featured in a music video that was released in November of that same year.[4] The track was later added in a Victorious episode called "One Thousand Berry Balls", which aired on December 8, 2012.[5][6][7] In the episode, Andre (Thomas) helps Tori (Justice) find a job at a frozen yogurt stand, but their work schedules threatens their appearance for a performance at the Hollywood Arts Cowboy Luau.[6][7][8] They perform "Here's 2 Us" at the end of the episode.[7][8]
Music and lyrics
Justice provides the lead vocals for "Here's 2 Us". The track was written by Evan Bogart, Michelle Branch, Lindy Robbins, and Emanuel Kiriakou. Production was done by Kiriakou, with additional production by Andrew Maxwell Goldstein and Jens Koerkemeier; Kiriakou and Goldstein also contributed programming, guitar, and keyboards, while Koerkemeier served as engineer. The track was mixed by Pat Thrall and mastered by Stephen Marcussen.[9] "Here's 2 Us" is 3 minutes and 21 seconds long.[2] Music critics have described "Here's 2 Us" as an upbeat pop track.[5][8] The track features the lyrics: "Here's to never winning first place/Here's to crying on your birthday/Here's to every single heartbreak."[8]
Reception
The joint website of Bop and Tiger Beat gave a positive review of the song, labeling Justice's and Thomas's rendition of the track in the episode as a "rocking musical performance".[6] The staff of ClevverTV described "Here's 2 Us" as one of the extended play's "stand-out tracks".[10] Crystal Bell, writing for Celebuzz, called "Here's 2 Us" a "teen anthem", stating that the track "will have fans singing right along with the show's stars".[8] Kaitlin Cubria for Teen.com commended the track, saying to "make sure to sing along with the lyrics".[5] Commercially, "Here's 2 Us" charted at number eight on the Billboard Kid Digital Song Sales chart in the United States.[11]
