J. M. Emdadul Islam is a Major General of the Bangladesh Army and the General Officer Commanding of Jessore Cantonment.[1][2]

Career

Islam was the college secretary of the National Defence College.[3] In 2013, he was the secretary of the principal staff officer, Lieutenant General Abu Belal Shafiul Haque.[4] He was the head of joint operations of the Plans and Operations Directorate at the Armed Forces Division in the Prime Minister's Office.[4]

Islam is the General Officer Commanding of the 55th Infantry Division and Jessore Cantonment.[5] He is the chairman of the Army Medical College Jashore.[5] He oversaw the Signals Corps Recruits Batch-2024 Closing Parade in November 2024.[6] He welcomed Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus for the Army Maneuver Exercise 2024-25 in the Rajbari Military Training Area.[7] In July 2025, he took the responsibility to rebuild homes of 14 families burned in arson attacks in Abhaynagar upazila.[8]
