Palestine 36 (Arabic: فلسطين 36) is an upcoming historical drama written and directed by Annemarie Jacir. It stars Hiam Abbass, Kamel El Basha, Yasmine Al Massri, Jalal Altawil, Robert Aramayo, Saleh Bakri, Yafa Bakri, Karim Daoud Anaya, Wardi Eilabouni, Ward Helou, Billy Howle, Dhafer L'Abidine, Liam Cunningham and Jeremy Irons
The film will have its world premiere in the Gala Presentations section of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival on 5 September 2025.[1][2] It was selected as the Palestinian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards.[3][4]

Production
In February 2025, it was announced Hiam Abbass, Kamel El Basha, Yasmine Al Massri, Jalal Altawil, Robert Aramayo, Saleh Bakri, Yafa Bakri, Karim Daoud Anaya, Wardi Eilabouni, Ward Helou, Billy Howle, Dhafer L'Abidine, Liam Cunningham and Jeremy Irons had joined the cast of the film, with Annemarie Jacir directing from a screenplay she wrote. Curzon Film and MAD Distribution will distribute the film in the United Kingdom and Middle East, respectively.[5][6]
Principal photography was set to take place in Palestine; however, the 2023 attacks across the Palestinian territories by Israel postponed production.[7]
