Silent Night, Lonely Night is a 1959 drama play by Robert Anderson.
The 1959 production on Broadway starred Henry Fonda and Barbara Bel Geddes.[2]
It was Anderson's last play for a number of years.[3]
Adaptations
In 1965, Silent Night, Lonely Night was adapted for the Canadian CBC Television anthology series Festival for a December 1st episode of the same name. It was directed by Eric Till, starring Frances Hyland as Katherine, and Paul Harding as John, with Michael Sarrazin, Sabina von Fircks, Cosette Lee, and Tom Beckerman.[4][5]
The play was adapted into a television film in 1969, produced by Universal Television and broadcast on NBC.[6][7] The film was directed by Daniel Petrie and starred Lloyd Bridges and Shirley Jones. Jones received an Emmy award nomination for her performance.[8] The film score was composed by Billy Goldenberg.
