Arcane
Arcane (2021–2024) is an animated television series set in the League of Legends universe.
Season 1
Welcome to the Playground [1.1]
Some Mysteries Are Better Left Unsolved [1.2]
- Jayce: Professor Heimerdinger, I... I believe I have discovered something truly incredible: a way to harness magic through science.
- Heimerdinger: Magic?
- Jayce: Yes!
- Heimerdinger: No.
- Jayce: No?
- Heimerdinger: The Arcane is dangerous, Jayce. A force of nature. Science cannot control it.
- Jayce: Surely, we, the pioneers of science, can use it for good. We are the champions of discovery. Why fear it when we can master it?
- Heimerdinger: Jayce, enough.
- Jayce: This is the city of progress. Think of the wonders we could create! Let me prove—
- Heimerdinger: Enough! You don't understand what's at stake. But how can you? That's a burden that only I here carry: time. I have seen this power in the wrong hands. It corrupts, consumes, lays waste to civilizations. That cannot happen here, my boy. It must not.
The Base Violence Necessary for Change [1.3]
Happy Progress Day! [1.4]
Everybody Wants to Be My Enemy [1.5]
When These Walls Come Tumbling Down [1.6]
The Boy Savior [1.7]
- Finn: If we stand together-
[Silco suddenly enters the room, followed by Sevika]
- Silco: We aren't due for an assembly.
- Finn:... We should be. Ever since your stunt topside, profits have been plummeting.
- Renni: He's right. Merchandise is frozen at the border. Topsiders are too afraid to cross.
- Finn: We're all wondering: what's your plan, to fix this?
- Silco: [sets a box on the table]... You're all wondering, are you?
- Finn: [flicking his lighter] Way I see it, we should cut a deal and give back the gemstone. [unnoticed, the ceiling fan shuts off] Better to have some trade, than none at all.
- Silco: The border issue is temporary. Jinx will deal with it.
- Finn: Ha! Rumor is, your dog's off her leash. How're you meant to bring Piltover to heel, if you can't handle your own people, huh?
[Silco glares at him, then closes his eyes and inhales deeply. There is a sudden hissing sound as Sevika drops an open canister on the floor and turns around, wearing a gas mask; the chem barons begin to cough and choke, while Silco remains unaffected.]
- Silco: [smirks as he looks around] Oh, you don't recognize it? Have you forgotten where we came from? [as he walks around the table, Sevika opens the box and slides gas masks to the barons] The mines they had us in? Air so thick, it clogged your throat? Stuck in your eyes? [he approaches Finn, the only one without a mask, struggling to hide his reaction to the Grey] I pulled you all up, from the depths, offered you a taste of Topside... and fresh air. [Finn starts coughing hard] I gave you life, purpose... but you've grown fat, and complacent. Too much time in the sun.
[Finn collapses to the floor, choking]
- Silco: We came from a world where there was never enough to go around, Finn. [he rolls Finn over with his foot] That is why we fight. Do you remember?
- Finn: [frantically] I'm sorry... please... please.
[Silco inhales once from the mask, then drops it in front of Finn, who grabs it]
- Silco: Don't forget again. [as the ceiling fan reactivates, he leaves the room with Sevika] Good meeting!
Oil and Water [1.8]
- Caitlyn Kiramman: [enters her room, surprised] We'll... present our case to the council, tonight.
- Vi: [examining Caitlyn's detective notes] You did all this yourself? Without even going down there? And I thought Powder could get obsessed. [lays back as Caitlyn approaches the bed and sits next to her]
- Caitlyn Kiramman: What happened to her... it's not your fault. [lays down]
- Vi: When my parents were... still alive, me and Powder used to share a bed like this. Except, maybe half this size. We played a game where we'd pretend to be bigger and bigger monsters. So she would say, "I'm a slug monster with venom for ooze!" and I would say "Well, I'm a slug-eating crab with razor spikes!" [She and Caitlyn gradually turn to face one another] Sometimes, I... I'd get carried away, and she'd get scared. I didn't want her to start crying and wake my parents up, so... I pretended to chase my own monsters away. I'd say, "No monster's gonna get you when I'm here"... Then a real monster showed up. [closes her eyes, curls into a fetal position] And I just ran away. I left her.
The Monster You Created [1.9]
[Jace meets with Silco on the seawall]
- Silco: Perfect place for an ambush... and you without your hammer.
- Jace Tallis:... I was reminded recently, of what brought us together in the first place. The threats beyond our walls.
- Silco: This city has a short memory.
- Jace Tallis: Progress.
- Silco: [shrugs] Far be it for me, to stand in the way. [withdraws a list and plants it on Jace's chest, smirking]
- Jace: [reads, incredulous] Free trade routes... Blanket amnesty?! Unrestricted access to the Hexgates, sovereignty?! You really think you're in a position to demand all this?!
- Silco: I give you credit for your stunt, boy. Didn't think you had the stomach. But the big display, followed by a request for parley... You're tipping your hand. You're afraid.
- Jace Tallis: [looks away] I am afraid. Today, I got a glimpse of what war between us might look like. Your people wouldn't stand a chance. Council couldn't care less. I'm trying to save you, from anihilation.
- Silco: [smiles, shakes his head] ...Well, well. Not the fresh-faced Academy pledge, are you? [sharply] You want peace, this is the price.
- Jace Tallis: You'll discontinue the production of Shimmer?
- Silco: Half-there already.
- Jace Tallis: Return the Gemstone? [Silco nods]... And I need Jinx. [Silco's face darkens] She has to pay for what she's done.
- Silco: They weren't her crimes. She was working for me.
- Jace Tallis: Believe me, if I had it my way, it'd be you rotting in Stillwater. But we can't make a deal with a snake, and cut off it's head. We both have our shitty parts to play. [slaps the list against Silco's chest] Get me Jinx, and I'll give you your Nation of Zaun.
[Silco addresses Vander's statue, unaware Jinx is listening behind it]
- Silco: [in a broken voice] A thousand times, I've imagined this moment... Never like this. All we ever wanted. The boy didn't even haggle! And what do I lose, but problems?! Oh, it all makes sense now, Brother. [He pours a toast from his hip flask into the fountain, then drinks] Is there anything so undoing... as a daughter?
[Vi awakens to find herself bound in the cannery where Vander, Mylo and Claggor died, lit by a sparkler]
- Powder/Jix: [Obscured by the dark] Really thought I buried this place. But, I shoulda known better. [approaches]
- Vi: Powder?
- Powder/Jinx: Nothing ever stays dead.
- Vi: Are we alone?
- Powder/Jinx: For now. Maybe forever. [stalks around as Vi looks for her] Wanna know a secret? Silco, thinks he made Jinx, with all his rants and his hard-won lessons. "Excise your doubts, Jinx. Be what they fear, Jinx!" Like everything was the same, as when Vander left him! But he, didn't make Jinx. You did.
- Vi: I'm sorry, Powder. I never meant to leave you.
- Powder/Jinx: You never left. I always heard you [softly] Shadows in the streets. Prickles on the back of my neck... Your voice, pushing me. Picking me up, when all the colors were black. You're the reason, I'm still alive.
- Vi: ...I spent so many nights, in that shitty prison, on that freezing floor! Hungry, bloody, counting the hours! The only thing... [her voice breaks] the only thing, that kept me going, was the thought of getting back to you.
[the sparkler goes out]
- Powder/Jinx: [also broken] ...Are we... still, sisters?
- Vi: Nothing, is ever going to change that.
[Jinx ignites a lighter in front of Vi, startling her.]
- Powder/Jinx: I always knew you'd come back. [turns Vi toward a table]
- Vi: What's going on?!
[Jinx lights candles along the table, revealing Silco, bound, gagged and barely conscious]
- Powder/Jinx: He took everything from us. Right here, he stabbed Vander in the back. Just like he planned to with me. All the time, saying you abandoned me, when he knew the truth. [Silco mumbles behind the gag] Liar. Hmm. We're missing someone.
[As she walks way, Vi notices effigies of Claggor amd Mylo, as well as Vander's pipe and gauntlets, set at chairs. Jinx brings a covered dinner tray and puts it in front of Vi.]
- Powder/Jinx: I paid your girlfriend a visit this morning.
- Vi: [horrified]...What'd you do?
- Powder/Jinx: [shrugs] I made her a snack!
[She lifts the lid, and Vi recoils]
- Vi: No! [she looks at the tray, only to see a cupcake with the Hextech Gemstone on top]
- Powder/Jinx: Sheesh! I'm not that crazy.
[She walks away again, returning with Caitlyn, also bound and gagged, in a wheelchair.]
- Vi: Powder! Leave her out of this.
[Jinx glares at Silco, then Caitlyn, then moves next to Vi]
- Powder/Jinx: Now... where should I sit? [indicates two empty chairs- one labled "Powder", the other "Jinx."] That's your choice, really. [She puts her pistol in Vi's bound hands] Make her go away. Please. Send her on her way, and-[Caitlyn gives a muffled yell] And you can have Powder back.
- Vi: I- I can't. [Jinx scoffs, grabs the pistol and aims at Caitlyn] NO! Powder, listen. We- we can, just go. We'll leave, and never come back.
- Powder/Jinx: ...Wh-where would we go? [aims at the effigies] No, no, no! She's not saying that!
- Vi: It's true! We'll put this behind us. You'll never have to see him again, Powder.
[Silco mumbles behind his gag; Jinx glares at him]
- Powder/Jinx: What do you have to say about that? [she removes his gag]
- Silco: [to Vi] Her name, is Jinx! [To Jinx] She's lying. You'll be with her a day, before she realizes you aren't that girl anymore.
- Powder/Jinx: [To Vi, uncertain] You aren't... lying? You wouldn't lie to me? Not again.
- Vi: I'm not lying. I'm on your side, I promise!
[Jinx hallucinates Mylo laughing at her and shoots his effigy through the head, breaking a glass]
- Powder/Jinx: Shut up! We're talking!
- Silco: The Topsiders... offered me everything! Independence, a seat at the table... all in return for you. [Unnoticed, Caitlyn reaches for the broken glass] They can all burn. Everyone betrays us, Jinx. Vander, her. They will never understand... it's only us. You're my daughter. I'll never foresake you.
[Caitlyn breaks free, grabs Pow-Pow and aims at Jinx]
- Caitlyn Kiramman: Drop the gun!
[Jinx glances from her to Vi]
- Vi: No... Please.
[Jinx scoffs, then raises the pistol. Caitlyn fires a burst next to her]
- Vi: No! Stop!
- Caitlyn Kiramman: Drop the gun.
- Vi: Wait! She's my sister.
- Caitlyn Kiramman: Vi, she's too far gone!
[Jinx gives an unhinged giggle, then sets the gun in front of Silco, raising her hands in surrender. All three stare at her as Caitlyn primes the gatling gun]
- Vi: No, no, no-
[A vicious smirk suddenly crosses Jinx's face. She shoots forward.]
- Vi: Look out!
[Jinx snatches the gatling gun away, bashes Caitlyn unconscious with it, and aims at her]
- Silco: You see... now, finish it.
[Jinx suddenly looks uncertain, as she begins to hallucinate]
- Vi Dammit, Powder! Wake up! Remember who you are, I know you remember!
[Jinx shuts her eyes as painful flashbacks flood her mind]
- Vi: Picture Mylo!
[Jinx does so, but with monstrous, dead features, terrifying her]
- Vi: Claggor! [Jinx hallucinates Claggor the same way]
- Powder/Jinx: Stop-
- Vi: Vander! [Jinx hallucinates Vander the same way]
- Silco: [enraged] DAUGHTER! DON'T LISTEN TO HER! [begins fighting free of his bonds]
- Vi: Dad! Mom! Me!
[Overwhelmed, Jinx drops to the ground, clutching her head and curling into a ball. Silco breaks his hands free and grabs Jinx's pistol, aiming at Vi. The click of its hammer catches Jinx's attention. Screaming, she spins around and fires a burst from Pow-Pow. After a moment, she drops it and rushes to Silco, who is slumped over and bleeding out]
- Powder/Jinx: No... No, nonono no! I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I'm sorry, I'm sorry-
- Silco: ...I never would have given you to them. Not for anything. [Jinx holds his face, tearfully] Don't cry. You're perfect.
[He dies. After a moment, Jinx takes her pistol and stands up, a broken look on her face]
- Vi: Powder? It's okay. We'll be okay-
[Jinx taps the chair labeled "Jinx" and sits in it]
- Jinx: [softly] I thought... maybe, you could love me like you used to. Even though I'm...different. But you've changed, too. [coldly] So... here's to the new us.
[She walks past Vi, grabbing the Gemstone. As Caitlyn awakens and Vi struggles to free herself, Jinx inserts the Gemstone into a missile launcher she designed. As Jinx raises the weapon, she remembers Silco's first words to her]
- Silco: We'll show them. We will show them all.
[With a tearful scream, Jinx fires the missile at the Council's office building, to Vi and Caitlyn's horror.]
Season 2
Heavy Is the Crown [2.1]
- Vi: Who are you? How do you know my name?
- Maddie Nolen: Junior Officer Nolen. Maddie. And, uh, it's written on your face.
Watch It All Burn [2.2]
[Sevika returns to Silco's abandoned office, attempting to fix her mechanical arm; after several attempts, she stabs the screwdriver into the desk in frustration]
- Sevika: [glaring at Silco's chair] ...I can't believe you're dead, and I'm still mopping up your messes!
- Jinx: [perched above the trapdoor] Jeez, lady, you crazy? [Sevika hurls the screwdriver, pinning one of Jinx's braids to the wall] Talking to dead people.
- Sevika: You here to finish me off?
- Jinx: Haven't I done you enough favors? [removes the screwdriver and rolls over, falling through the trapdoor and landing on the desk, curling into a hunched position. Sevika slowly reaches for an empty bottle behind her back, then notices Jinx examining Silco's eye-syringe.] Same time every day. Big baby couldn't do it himself.
- Sevika: [drops the bottle, sits on the desk facing the other way] Couldn't do much himself. [Jinx grunts in agreement] About now, he'd have me all over the Lanes, running his collections.
- Jinx: Building his weapons.
- Sevika: Making his deals.
- Jinx: Exploding his enemies.
- Sevika:... He dips out, the whole world flips over. [growls in frustration, then suddenly hurls a chair at the wall] All his plans... everything we built... The Hell are we supposed to do now?
[Jinx picks up the broken mechanical arm, waggling it halfheartedly in Sevika's direction.]
- Jinx: [Meets Sevika's eyes]... Watch it all burn.
Finally Got the Name Right [2.3]
- Vi: JINX!
- Jinx: [unseen] ...Finally got the name right. Guess there really isn't a crack in the earth, where you won't find me.
- Vi: [priming her gauntlets] What is this place?
- Jinx: Don't you remember the old Janna bedtime stories, Vander used to tell us? "Miners, trapped underground, air running thin!" But then, some whispy wind woman, wafts to their rescue! [cackles] Wild, the kinda crap people get up to, when you... choke 'em out?
- Vi: We used the Grey to clear the streets. To keep people safe.
- Jinx: "We." Never thought my sister would turn bluebelly.
- Vi: Never thought mine would orphan kids.
- Jinx: Hah! Why not? Done it to myself enough. But plastering my face all over, so someone else would do your dirty work? Poisoning our air? [whistles] You've turned a leaf, sister.
- Vi: I'm done, blaming myself for your mistakes! Done pretending you're my sister; you're not! You killed her. I'm not gonna let you stain her memory anymore! [Raises her gauntlets]
- Jinx: Then, stop me. [Vi spots her in the smoke ahead; Caitlyn aimes her rifle] 'Cause no matter what I do, I just can't seem to die.
- Vi: [looks down, bowing her head] I'm sorry.
- Jinx: [shrugs] I'm sorry too.
[Caitlyn fires. Her bullet shoots past Vi's bowed head... and pierces a reflective metal plate, revealing Jinx wasn't there after all. As Jinx's laughter echoes around them, Vi frantically scans the chamber while Caitlyn finds a new sniping position. Above, Sevika spots Caitlyn and moves to intercept her]
- Jinx: I know you're sweet on her. Hope you got a chance to... y'know... before... [cackles]
- Vi: [coldy] I'm ready.
[Caitlyn and Vi are blown into the ventilation shaft following their battle with Jinx. Caitlyn moves toward the blocked entrance and hammers angrily at the debris with her rifle]
- Vi: Cait!
- Caitlyn Kiramman: ...You stopped me.
- Vi: [dropping her gauntlets, approaches] I shouldn't have had to.
- Caitlyn Kiramman: I had the shot.
- Vi: That was a kid! What if you missed?!
- Caitlyn Kiramman: [whirls around] I wasn't going to miss!
- Vi:... What's wrong with you?
- Caitlyn Kiramman:... I keep telling myself, that you're different... but you're not. It's her blood in your veins.
[She starts to leave, but Vi grabs her arm]
- Vi: Then why are you the one acting like her?!
[After a pause, Caitlyn slams Vi in the stomach with her rifle butt; Vi gasps and crumples to the ground. After staring down at her for a moment, Caitlyn climbs out of the tunnel, leaving Vi alone in tears]
Paint the Town Blue [2.4]
- Jinx: Ha! It's me, your vile villainess, the author of your nightmares, the, uh, dread of your—
- Enforcer: Who are you?
- Jinx: Mmm... [indicates her braids] Jinx?
- Enforcer: [scoffs] Yeah, never heard that before.
- Jinx: You're not gonna haul me in? Claim the prize? Be the big hero?
- Enforcer: You expect me to believe Jinx, the master criminal, wears pants like that?
- Jinx: What's wrong with my pants?
- Enforcer: You look like a half-eaten circus tent.
[Sevika strikes her from behind, knocking her out]
- Jinx: [scoffs, kicks the prone Enforcer] I am Jinx!
Blisters and Bedrock [2.5]
[Jinx, Vi and Isha search the mine tunnels, clapping their hands periodically to trigger luminous fungi]
- Jinx: [indicating huge claw marks near the entrance] This... is where I lost him [to Isha, picking a fungi] Cool, huh? And not even toxic. [She pops it in her mouth, then frowns] Mmm...pretty sure.
- Vi: ...Why the Hell would Vander be all the way down here?
- Jinx: Beats me. Ask him yourself.
- Vi: [sighs] When are you gonna admit, that this is just another one of your fantasies? Or do you not want the kid to know how delusional you are?
- Jinx: [to Isha] She wasn't always like this. She actually used to be pretty cool- before I kicked her butt.
- Vi: See what I mean? Delusional. [Jinx turns and glares at her]
- Jinx: Wish I was seeing things, when you decided to throw in with the Pilty-goons who murdered Mom and Dad!
- Vi: Well, at least they never had to see the psycho their daughter turned into!
- Jinx: Which one? [rolls her eyes] Wake up, sis; I'm a hero! I busted half of Zaun out of Stillwater, while you were passed out in the bottom of a mug. Now can it and keep walking, before I kick your ass again.
- Vi: You wouldn't last one second without all your ugly gadgets and chickenshit tricks.
- Jinx: Hah! [indicates Vi's gauntlets] What about those over-designed bitch-mittens you didn't even build yourself?
[Vi angrily drops the gauntlets, causing Isha to stop and look back at them]
- Vi: You think I need these to- [she is cut off as Jinx slaps her hard across the face; both of them look taken aback]
- Jinx: [regains her composure, sarcastically] There. One second.
[She turns away, but Vi grabs her braid and yanks her back; the two fall to the floor, tussling]
- Vi: Last chance to surrender!
- Jinx: Go right ahead, Fat-Hands!
[Isha joins the struggle, trying to help Jinx. When she bites Vi's forearm, Vi lashes out, knocking her backward with a bloody nose. The sisters freeze for a moment, before Jinx pushes Vi away and rushes to Isha, pulling her up]
- Jinx: Hey, kid. Still got all your insides? [Isha wipes off her nose and shrugs. Jinx smiles, playfully puts Isha's helmet back on her head, and gestures for her to keep going as Vi watches them in surprise] But don't ditch us!
- Vi: ...Why'd you come get me? You don't actually need my help. You haven't for a long time.
- Jinx:... Last time Vander needed us, we tried it alone, and... nothing was, ever the same. So... [sighs]... maybe this is like a do-over. [glances back at Vi] Besides... he's your father, too.
[In a flashback, Felicia plays "Our Love" on the jukebox at the Last Drop]
- Vander: [running the bar] What's the occasion?
- Felicia: Hmmm. Can't a lady just be in the mood for a familiar song?
- Vander: [chuckles] Not this lady... and not this song.
[As Felicia dances to the bar, Vander pours drinks for her, himself and Silco, who is sitting next to him, writing]
- Felicia: Tonight: a hairbrained scheme these two bozos cooked up, to turn a dank crack in the earth into a thriving, healthy community... became a reality.
- Vander: Tonight, eh? [clinks her cup, to Silco] You hear that, Bozo Two? We made it; we're done.
- Silco: Oh, you're sadly mistaken. [smiles] I'm Bozo One.
- Vander: A night of revelations! [He and Silco drink, while Felicia sets her cup down.]
- Felicia:... I'm knocked up. [Vander and Silco stare at her in surprise, before Vander replaces her drink with a non-alcoholic one] A girl.
- Vander: How do you know?
- Felicia: [shrugs] Wasn't really part of my plan... but, I guess that's everything when you're living week-to-week. [Silco puts his writing away]
- Vander: What did Connel say?
- Felicia: [looks down] I haven't told him. Working up the nerve. [pause] I don't know anything about kids. I get sweaty, being alone with one-
- Vander: Hey. You're gonna be a great mother.
- Felicia: Shut up; I'm not ready for that. I started trying to come up with a name, and it hits me that this one... word, is a decision she's gonna live with, her whole life. I can't protect her from all the shit down here, and work out how to be a parent at the same time. [pause, smiles] Then, I realized... I don't have to.
- Vander: Hmm? Why's that?
- Felicia: [humorously] Because the second I told you, I put you on the hook. [indicates him and Silco] You two, are gonna figure this Zaun thing out. I don't care if you have to carve it out of the bedrock, covered in blisters. You're not allowed to fail anymore. For her. For me.
- Vander: [shrugs, smiles] What's the point, if we can't raise an ankle-biter or two?
- Silco: [chuckles, raises his cup] To Zaun, then. Blisters and Bedrock.
- Vander: [chuckles] Blisters and Bedrock! [the three toast]... I've always liked the name Violet.
[After Warwick/Vander's battle with Vi, Jinx tries to illuminate the tunnels with her lighter, looking beside herself with worry. After several tries, she finally sees the beast's silhouette and approaches... to find Warwick/Vander, embracing Vi]
- Vi: [turns to Jinx, softly]... What are you waiting for? He's your Dad, too.
[Jinx gasps and bursts into tears, running forward to join them. Isha hugs both sisters' waists, and Warwick/Vander wraps his arms around all three of them]
[As Salo retrieves a canister from the Hexcore, the Wild Rune suddenly activates, dropping a bearded, haggard-looking Jayce into the chamber. Salo pauses, then pulls back his hood]
- Jayce Tallis: ...Salo? What are you doing here?
- Salo: Jace. One could ask the same question.
[Jayce experiences a split-second, traumatic flashback, then recovers]
- Jayce Tallis: [indicates Salo's metallic, glowing legs] How are you walking?
- Salo: [smiles] Who do you think could mend, such a broken creature? Would you want, to speak with him?
[His eyes roll back, close, then re-open, filled with pearly light]
- Viktor: [through Salo] Jacye. I feared I wouldn't have the chance to speak with you again.
- Jayce Tallis: Viktor? [approaches, dragging his deformed war-hammer]
- Viktor: [through Salo] I would prefer to converse in person. [Jayce experiences another flashback] But there's so much work, to be done.
- Jayce Tallis: How are you doing this?
- Viktor: [through Salo, gazing at the Wild Rune] I suppose this is somewhat beyond where we left off.
- Jayce Tallis: Is Salo still in there?
- Salo: [smiles] Where else would I be? You have my solemn vow, that anything you discuss, will be kept in the strictest confidence. I owe Viktor... everything.
- Viktor: [through Salo] Very kind, Salo. I have so many breakthroughs to share with you, Jayce.
- Jayce Tallis: [angrily] I thought you were done with Hextech! [experiences another flash] And me.
- Viktor: [through Salo] I was clouded by emotions. Come. Visit me. See, what I've accomplished. I've helped so many.
[Viktor touches the Wild Rune through Salo, causing it to react, then vanish. Jayce experiences one more flash, then finds himself in the Hexcore]
- Jayce Tallis': ...You've given Hextech to the people?!
- Viktor: [through Salo] As we always promised we would.
- Salo: Viktor has truly worked wonders.
- Jayce Tallis: Hextech isn't a miracle. It's a curse. We have to end it, Viktor. We have to.
- Viktor: [through Salo] ...You seem different. Something happened. [Salo approaches Jayce] Now I see it. You, too, have touched the Arcane. [Jayce looks away] Your mind suffered.
- Salo If you'll excuse me, I must return to him. [picks up two canisters of Hextech crystals, walks past Jayce]
- Jayce Tallis: ...I can't let you leave.
- Salo: I'm... sorry, you feel that way.
- Jayce Tallis: I'm sorry, too.
[He turns and swings his war hammer, crushing Salo's head with a single blow, a manic look in his eyes]
The Message Hidden Within the Pattern [2.6]
- Viktor: Vander's psyche is deeply entangled with that of the beast.
- Vi: How did you know his name?
- Viktor: He told me.
- Jinx: Ask for a miracle healer, get a metal fortune cookie!
- Viktor: I saw your father. His dream of your family, and Zaun as it could have been, it was... beautiful.
- Jinx: [coughs sarcastically] Cookie!
- Vi: Can you help him?
- Viktor: I will do all in my power. [behind them, Isha offers water to Warwick/Vander] However, I have one condition.
- Jinx: Looks like you got a couple.
- Viktor: [chuckles] You have much to offer this commune, Powder. [Startled, Jinx drops a metal gear into the fountain; Viktor retrieves and examines it] Your talents can be used to build, instead of destroy.
- Jinx: I'll... stick with what I know, thanks.
- Viktor: My condition is that he be restrained, at night. I've seem the... harm, of which he is capable.
- Vi: [sighs, to Jinx]... What do you think?
- Jinx: [surprised] You... actually want my opinion? [pause, scoffs] I hate fortune cookies.
[she gestures to Isha, who nods to Warwick/Vander and follows her away. Vi presses her forehead to Warwick/Vander's.]
- Vi:... We're gonna get you out of there, Vander.
[As Viktor continues to heal Warwick/Vander, his Arcane abilities begin to weaken just as Singed arrives]
- Corin Revik/Singed: You've felt it, haven't you? Your decline. [Warwick/Vander growls in his sleep] Your power is finite, diminished by every use.
- Viktor: I've been expecting you, Doctor.
- Corin Revik/Singed: Viktor. Incredible! What I wouldn't give, to glimpse the world through your eyes. To know what you know. [As he touches Viktor's Arcane hand, Viktor sees a vision of Singed reading to his comatose daughter in the past]
- Past Singed: "His quest led him astray, of any trodden path, his own shadow dissolved to darkness. Now the only course, was forward. The only warmth, a dream of her waltz."
- Viktor: Knowledge is a paradox. The more one understands, the more one realizes the vastness of his ignorance.
- Corin Revik/Singed: [glances at Warwick/Vander] Marvelous specimen, isn't he? The regenerative qualities of his blood, will stabilize you. Apex Shimmer combined with you, the apex form of Hextech. [kneels next to Warwick/Vander]
- Viktor: ...What you are suggesting would destroy him. And for what? Conquest? The greed of warmongers?
- Corin Revik/Singed: To complete your work. To save us from ourselves! You must survive, Viktor.
- Viktor: [eyes turn pearly with the Arcane, voice deepens] ...Do you believe in fate, Doctor? Our paths carved before us, guided by an invisible hand?
- Corin Revik/Singed: Not fate. Evolution. Nature's greatest force, forever in flux.
- Viktor: [shakes his head] No. Evolution has a destination. Not to combat Nature, but to supersede it. The final, glorious evolution. But he isn't a specimen. He's a man... and he needs my help. I will not sacrifice his humanity, for your cause. You may leave.
- Corin Revik/Singed: ...Very well. But I assume you understand already: if you perish, this community is soon to follow. [stands, leaves]
[Vi, having been captured by Caitlyn, is brought before Ambessa and unmasked]
- Vi: So much for happy reunions.
- Ambessa Medarda: Well done, Caitlyn. [she nods to Rictus, who leaves. Vi strains against her cuffs, then spits on Caitlyn's face; Caitlyn wipes it away, glaring at her]
- Corin Revik/Singed: [holding up his counter-serum] ...It's time.
[Ambessa nods to Caitlyn, who lays her rifle against the wall near Vi and leaves with Singed]
- Ambessa Medarda: Vi. You've been quite a curiosity: the one who captured Caitlyn's heart. I owe you thanks. [pours a glass of wine] Your absence provided a vacuum I was able to fill. In other circumstances, I might have offered you a position in my organization; your resilience is undeniable. [drinks, reaches for a knife] Of course, that won't be possible. You cause too many complications. Caitlyn must not be distracted.
- Vi: [smirks] Don't worry; she's not distracted. [Ambessa frowns] You know, my father taught me about trust. He told me if I wanted it, there were only three things I needed to do. Be honest, even if it means telling a self-righteous windbag that her breath smells like a cesspool. Be patient... Mmm, still haven't cracked that one, but being tied up sure helps.
- Ambessa Medarda: And the third?
- Vi: Just shut...the fuck...up.
[Ambessa glances at Caitlyn's rifle, noticing a piece of the scope is missing. Vi suddenly slips out of her cuffs. Ambessa hurls her knife, but Vi dodges, launching a small metal capsule into the air]
- Caitlyn Kiramman: [flashback, removing the capsule from her rifle's scope and giving it to Vi] The fissures are blocked by guard towers. Patrols circle the commune at even intervals. Her personal guard are posted here, here and here. They aren't expecting trouble at home. With flawless timing, and luck, and-
- Vi: [flashback] A big distraction. [She gestures for Caitlyn to hit her in the face with her rifle butt, bruising her cheekbone]
- Caitlyn Kiramman: [flashback] Whatever you do... don't underestimate Ambessa.
[Vi punches the capsule toward Ambessa mid-air; it opens, enveloping her in an electroshock net and pinning her to the table]
- Vi: [flashback, to Jinx] Vander's in trouble. I have a plan; you're not gonna like it.
[As Singed and Caitlyn approach Vander/Warwick, Jinx aims her pistol at them, but pauses when Caitlyn suddenly grabs Singed in a sleeper hold. In the tent, Ambessa struggles against the net, but is finally knocked out by the shocks as Vi grabs Caitlyn's rifle]
- Vi: Hope I was worth your time.
[As a berserk Warwick/Vander battles Ambessa and her Noxian soldiers, Vi, Caitlyn, Jinx and Isha try to fight their way out]
- Viktor: [voiceover] I understand, now... the message, hidden within the pattern. The reason for our failures, in the commune. The Doctor was right. It's inescapable. Humanity... our very essence. Our emotions: rage, compassion, hate. Two sides of the same coin, inextricably bound.
- Jinx: [returning to Warwick/Vander] Vander, wait!
[Warwick/Vander smashes Jinx to the ground. Frozen by the sight, and seeing Vi wounded and Caitlyn struggling to help her, Isha looks at the Hextech gemstones in her pouch. Adjusting her helmet, she runs into the melee, envisioning her past moments of love and happiness with Jinx. As she grabs Jinx's dropped pistol, Jinx spots her. Noticing her load three gemstones into the pistol, Jinx starts to run after her]
- Jinx: NO! [Vi and Caitlyn glance back]
- Isha: [smiles tearfully at her and makes a pistol-shot hand sign] Pow!
[Vi suddenly grabs Jinx and starts to drag her away]
- Jinx: [grief-stricken] ISHA!!!!!
[Isha sweeps underneath Warwick/Vander, aims the overloaded Hextech pistol upwards, closes her eyes and pulls the trigger, detonating it]
- Viktor: [Voiceover] That which inspires us to our greatest good... is also the cause, of our greatest evil.
Pretend Like It's the First Time [2.7]
- Cecil Heimerdinger: One can't go shouting from the rooftops about being thrust into parallel dimensions, without... awkward consequences. [passes Ekko his notebook] It seems, the anomaly which dislodged us from our proverbial reality, also scattered us across time.
- Ekko: [sighs] Man, I thought I was going crazy. How long have you been here?
- Cecil Heimerdinger: One thousand, one hundred twenty-eight days, six hours, and... twenty minutes! Give or take
- Ekko: So- so you've just been waiting for me all this time?
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Precisely! Or rather, imprecisely. I grew skeptical you'd arrive, even during my unusually long lifetime.
- Ekko: What about Jayce? Is he here?
- Cecil Heimerdinger: [sighs, tunes his guitar] I fear he may have wound up elsewhere. The anomaly behaved differently, around him.
- Ekko: Please, tell me you've figured out a way to get us home.
- Cecil Heimerdinger: That is a... veritable conundrum. I'm afraid Hextech, was never invented here. And, without a creation so prodigious as the Hexgates...
- Ekko: No anomaly.
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Oh, it isn't all bad. I've been able to accomplish wonderful things in this world! Give it time to settle. This place will grow on you, you'll see!
- Ekko: "Grow on me?" [stands] I have people back home who need me. We don't belong here!
- Cecil Heimerdinger: And yet... we can't leave.
- Ekko: [covering Powder's eyes] Watch your step; we're almost there.
- Powder: Ekko, I don't know what all this is about, but if you're trying to apologize, dragging me through the- [she breaks off as Ekko uncovers her eyes, revealing a mural of Vi-from his reality- beneath the Firelight Tree] You... painted this?
- Ekko: I had this dream... where things went another way.
- Powder: [softly] She looks so... badass.
- Ekko: You don't know the half of it. [sits under the mural, Powder joins him] She was the toughest person in all of Zaun. Nothing scared her.
- Powder: [examines the mural] No, not my sister. Vi was strong, because she was afraid. Her fear of losing us, is what made her fight so hard.
- Ekko: ...You were different in my dream, too.
- Powder: Oh, yeah, buster? Is that what this is about? You want me to change?
- Ekko: No! No, no, I just... You aren't the kind of person, who helps other people with their projects. Your ideas, change the world. I can't shake the feeling... that that's who you're supposed to be.
- Powder: [shakes her head, softly] Things are good, Ekko. I- I like my life. I don't wanna lose, what makes me "me", chasing some wild dream.
- Ekko: Sometimes, taking a leap forward means... leaving a few things behind.
- Powder: ...You're a real mystery, aren't you, mister? [they both chuckle] Alright, out with it. What do you want from me?
[Ekko, Powder and Heimerdinger have re-created the anomaly via innovation with fragments of Hextech gemstones, the size of a marble]
- Ekko: It's so small.
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Golly... we've done it!
- Ekko: Halfway there. [He activates the machine, and a flash of Arcane energy sparks next to Heimerdinger, startling him]
- Powder: So... what does it do?
- Ekko: Uh... [He activates the machine, and the arcane energy sparks exactly the same, with Heimerdinger giving the exact same reaction]
- Powder: So... what does it do?
- Ekko: You just asked me that.
- Powder: No I didn't.
- Ekko: [sighs] I'm too tired for games! [he activates the machine as Heimerdinger reaches for a wrench]
- Powder: No I didn't. [Heimerdinger reaches for the wrench again as Ekko turns around, shocked]
- Ekko: [staring at the anomaly device] It's a time-loop!
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Huh? Oh! [bonks his head] A time-loop? [Ekko activates the machine again] Huh? Oh![bonks his head] A time-loop?
- Ekko: A time-loop.
- Powder: You're going back in time!
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Gadzooks! How did you stumble upon that?
- Ekko: I was playing with inversions on Jayce's acceleration rune.
- Cecil Heimerdinger: How far did you go?
- Ekko: I don't know. A second?
- Powder: Try going back further!
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Take it slow, lad- we wouldn't want to push a new invention too far, too quickly.
[Ekko and Powder meet eyes, and smirk. Ekko sets the timer on his watch, and activates the device]
- Ekko: One. Two. Three.
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Gadzooks-
- Ekko: Four-
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Ohhh! [his body starts to rupture into a bloody mess; Ekko immediately lets go of the device handle, reversing the process]
- Ekko: [wide-eyed] The limit is four seconds.
- Cecil Heimerdinger: Are you certain, my boy? What were the indicators?
- Ekko: [marking the four-second mark on the machine and sits down] Trust me... it's four seconds.
- Powder: Amazing. We could show it off, at the party!
- Ekko: We... aren't done. [Powder approaches, crouches in front of him and brushes debris off his cheek]
- Powder: Please, go change before the party. [leaves]
- Cecil Heimerdinger: I think I might know, how to give it a boost.
- Ekko: A boost?
- Cecil Heimerdinger: A momentary upgrade, if you will.
- Ekko: That's great. Where do we start?
- Cecil Heimerdinger: [gently] You can start, by attending your party. [Examines the device] One's thoughts are more easily gathered in isolation. And what's the point of a device like this... if you don't enjoy the time you have?
[After their dance, Ekko and Powder sit on the rooftops, watching the night sky]
- Powder:...Some night.
- Ekko: It's beautiful.
- Powder: [teasingly] Where'd you learn those moves?
- Ekko: Oh, I was just following your lead
- Powder: [chuckles] Mmm, he's got lines!
- Ekko: [chuckles] Hey. Uh... I just want to thank you. You know, for everything. I used to dream the undercity could be like this. But somewhere, I... got consumed by all the ways that it wasn't. I gave up on it. Gave up on you.
- Powder: [lays her head on his shoulder] I've... never seen you give up on anyone, Ekko. [Ekko rests his head on hers]
- Ekko: You ever wish you could just... stay, in one moment?
- Powder: Sometimes... taking a leap forward, means... leaving a few things behind.
- Ekko: I promise I'll never forget this.
- Powder: [sits up, smirking] You better not. [she leans forward, but Ekko moves back]
- Ekko: Sorry, I-
- Powder: No, it's- it's fine, I- [they both break off]
- Ekko: Can we... just pretend, like it's the first time?
[He looks away, but looks back when Powder puts her hand on his cheek and smiles. They lean forward and kiss]
Killing Is a Cycle [2.8]
- Maddie Nolan:...Maybe we can negotiate.
- Caitlyn Kiramman: Not with Ambessa. I saw it in her eyes; she will burn Piltover to the ground, for my betrayal.
- Maddie Nolan: [touches her hand] You can't blame yourself-
- Caitlyn Kiramman: [pulls away] I don't need consolation. I need a plan-
- Vi: [bursts into the room] Arrested?! [As she crosses the room, Maddie starts to block her path]
- Caitlyn Kiramman: I can handle this, Maddie. Check on my father? [Maddie leaves, but listens outside the door] Vi-
- Vi: She saved your life!
- Caitlyn Kiramman: If you will just calm down for one-
- Vi: Even knowing you'd never have done the same, for her!
- Caitlyn Kiramman: We'll never know, will we? [folds her arms] You didn't let me in on that part of your plan!
- Vi: Clearly the right call, since you still can't trust her enough not to shove her, in a box..
- Caitlyn Kiramman: Trust? You believe I'm so daft, I can't recognize a contingency? She wasn't there for my benefit, she was there because you didn't trust me to follow through!
- Vi: Can you blame me? How long were you sidled up with that shifty, self-serving war-pig? She oinked poison into your ear, and you just ate it up!
- Caitlyn Kiramman: I KNOW! [sits down, composes herself] ...The only thing Jinx cared about, was getting you to safety. Then she just... surrendered. I didn't even have time to think, before they hauled her off. She's being held in the bunker, while I... while I decide what to do. I was waiting for you to recover.
- Vi: Cait... she's changed.
- Caitlyn Kiramman: ...We can't erase our mistakes. None of us.
- Vi: ...Who decides who gets a second chance? [leaves]
[Caitlyn enters the bunker and pushes a meal tray through the slot in the cell door, next to another that is untouched. Jinx huddles in the corner inside, facing the wall, her braids unwound]
- Jinx: [voice broken] If you're here to kill me... make sure to finish the job.
- Caitlyn Kiramman: ...Vi thinks you've changed.
- Jinx: She can't accept, what you and I know. [digs her nail into her cuticle until it bleeds] There are no happy endings.
- Caitlyn Kiramman: Is that all you have to say for yourself? There won't be a trial. I'm giving you this one chance, to atone for your actions, all the pain you've caused. [pause] No amount of good deeds, can undo our crimes! [She slams her fist against the bars, causing Jinx to flinch]
- Jinx: ...Do what you came here to do.
- Caitlyn Kiramman: Hating you... I've hated myself. I just don't have the energy for it, any longer. [starts to leave]
- Jinx: [softly] I didn't know your Mom was there. [Caitlyn stops] It..probably wouldn't have made a difference, but... I didn't know.
- Mel Medarda:... Jayce? What happened to you?
- Jayce Tallis:...[looks away] Doesn't matter.
- Mel Medarda: Something... happened to me, too.
- Jayce Tallis: You're the reason, we didn't die in the attack.
- Mel Medarda: Apparently so.
- Jacye Tallis: How long have you known?
- Mel Medarda: It started then. Feelings I... couldn't explain. But this... [examines her Mage's tattoos] I still don't fully understand.
- Jacye Tallis: [angrily] Why just me? Why not save all of them?!
- Mel Medarda: It wasn't a decision! One moment you're addressing the Council, and the next, we're standing in rubble! I didn't have any greater awareness!
- Jayce Tallis: How can I know you aren't lying to me?
- Mel Medarda: Why would you think I am?
- Jayce Tallis: Because you used me! And Viktor, for Hextech! You called us "investments."
- Mel Medarda: Two brilliant young inventors who shared a penchant for impossible surprises. [Jayce begins to experience flashbacks from the apocalyptic reality] Carrying magic from myth, to machine. Rallying the hope and hearts of a nation. You were a wise investment-
[Jayce suddenly activates and fires his warhammer directly past Mel, blowing apart a pillar and revealing one of Viktor's followers, transformed into a mechanical doll-like figurine. It lands at the chamber entrance, then approaches]
- Viktor: [speaking through the figurine] Allow us a moment of civility, Jayce. We must talk.
- Jayce Tallis: Viktor. [approaches] How did you get in here?
- Viktor: You once benefited, from my knowledge of this place.
- Jayce Tallis: That was a long time ago.
- Viktor: Had you given me the chance, I would have shown you the merits of my work. Our work.
- Jayce Tallis: No, this is your obsession. Everything you've done to these people, you did alone. [he swings, but the figurine easily dodges several attacks, then flies up to the ceiling, hiding in the shadows as Mel and Jayce search for it]
- Viktor: Perhaps. But I'm alone no longer. I now speak with all their voices.
- Jayce Tallis: Say what you came here to say.
- Viktor: Somehow, I think you already understand what must transpire, to complete my mission. I would prefer to do so in peace. The Noxian has other intentions.
- Mel Medarda: Mother?
[The figurine suddenly flies forward and tries to grasp her, but she narrowly holds it back with her magic.]
- Viktor: ...The Arcane, stirs within you. [he begins to break through her spells, but is knocked back by Jayce's hammer; Mel collapses, exahusted.]
- Jayce Tallis: Viktor... for all our sakes, stay away from the Hexgates. [he charges the figurine again, but it easily dodges his attack, then slams him against the Council table]
- Viktor: Your mind has become rigid, Jayce. Fear, clouds your judgement. This chain of events, started with you. [Jayce attacks again, but the figurine flies over his swing, then traps him in its' arms.] In my confusion, I was unable to reconcile this. But I now understand. The Glorious Evolution, is destined. Let us instead do this once again as partners.
- Jayce Tallis: My partner... died in this room.
- Viktor: ...It was my sincere desire to avoid this.
[Jayce breaks free and counterattacks, but the figurine easily disarms him, lifting him by the throat. Mel suddenly launches spells from behind, paralyzing it and forcing it to drop Jayce and the hammer. Jayce grabs the hammer and fires at point-blank range, finally shutting the figurine down. Mel starts to collapse from exhaustion again; Jayce catches her, both staring at the broken figurine. Back in the Arcane, Viktor sits curled into a ball, shaken]
- Viktor: Doctor... you may begin the process.
- Jinx: [scoffs] Go away. You're too late.
- Silco: Oh, it's a Hell of a place. It says something about the late Marcus, that he found imprisoning your sister to be a greater mercy than... killing her.
- Jinx: Killing isn't mercy.
- Silco: [chuckles] A spark of rebellion still burns inside that husk, I see. No... Killing is a cycle. One that started long before Vander and me, and that will continue, long after the two of you. [the blue glow of his scarred eye becomes the Hextech gem in Jinx's hand, revealing he is a hallucination]
- Jinx:... I'm done, running in circles.
- Silco: We build our own prisons. Bars forged of... oaths, codes, commitments. Walls of self-doubt and accepted limitation. We inhabit these cells, these..."identities"... and call them us. I thought I could break free, by eliminating those I deemed my jailers. But... Jinx... I think the cycle only ends, when you find the will to walk away.
- Vi: Jinx? [she appears outside Jinx's cell]
- Jinx:[looks up briefly] ...What are you doing?
- Vi: I swiped these from the guards' station. [unlocks the door] If you come, help, use all that explosive potential of yours for good... maybe we can re-write your story, like you did with Zaun. What do you think?
- Jinx: [brokenly]... Sure, Vi. [Vi rushes into the cell and embraces her, crying] ...You're never gonna give up on me, are you?
[Jinx suddenly punches Vi in the gut, then zips out of the cell, locking her inside]
- Vi: Hey!
- Jinx: [gently] You don't have to worry about me, anymore. You don't need to feel guilty about... being happy. You deserve, to be with her. [backs toward the bunker entrance]
- Vi: [rushes to the bars] Wait!
- Jinx: There's no good version of me.
- Vi: What are you gonna do?!
- Jinx: ...Break the cycle. [leaves]
- Vi: [hammers on the bars] Jinx! [lets out a tearful scream, then punches the wall]
The Dirt Under Your Nails [2.9]
[in her old hideout, Jinx attempts suicide with her Hextech-powered Monkey Bomb, but the moment is reversed by Ekko's Z-Drive]
- Ekko: Wait! [Jinx glances back as he approaches] I just, wanna talk-
- Jinx: Get outta here, Ekko.
- Ekko: I just- [she detonates the bomb again, but Ekko uses his Z-Drive to re-do the moment] I just wanna talk to you, Pow- Jinx.
[Jinx detonates the bomb again, and Ekko once more uses the Z-Drive, but is left bleeding from his forehead]
- Jinx: You're too late, Ekko.
- Ekko: WAIT! [he uses the Z-Drive again as she detonates the bomb, chuckles ruefully] Always a dance with you. [Jinx stares at him] I- I think I'm just gonna sit here a minute. Y'know, catch my breath... see if I can talk an old friend out of blowing us up.
- Jinx: ...I'm tired of talking. [she steps forward, plummeting into the abyss]
- Ekko: NO! [he lunges forward, using the Z-Drive again] Y'know, I- I learned from someone... very special... that, no matter what happened in the past... it's never too late to build something new. [Jinx notices the monkey figurines inside his Z-Drive, in the same pattern as her doodles] Someone worth building it for.
