Boo Boo Runs Wild
Boo Boo Runs Wild is a 1999 stand-alone special parody of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon series, The Yogi Bear Show.
Yogi
- Huh? Wha? 12 o'clock? It's too soon for noon!
- [to Cindy Bear, after becoming savage with Boo Boo] HOME WRECKER!!!
Boo-Boo
- Gosh, Yogi, we're indecent!
Ranger John Smith
- [putting up all sorts of signs] Man, keeping order in the forest is hard work! Ah, but it'll be worth it when I see the happy little eyes of the thankful woodland creatures...
- Why wasn't it you, Yogi? Why didn't you go wild? It would have been easy then!
- Wait till they get a load of my new rules, WHOA NELLIE! If I know Yogi, he won't last too long. And when he transgresses, I'll have him right where I want him!
Dialogue
- Yogi: Boo-Boo?
- Boo-Boo: [after slowly snapping from hearing Ranger Smith's latest regulations] I can't take it anymore, Yogi! "Don't do this! Don't do that!" Every time we want to do something fun, or natural, and decent... there's a new rule. And I'm plenty TIRED OF IT! I'm a bear, Yogi... not a man. I was born a bear, and I'm going back to my bear roots!
- Yogi: Easy, Boob.
- Boo-Boo: NO EASY! NO EASY! From this day forth, I'll no longer dress in the man's attire! And I'll not speak in the man's tongue! From now on, it's going on all fours and grunting for me!
- [A weary Yogi shows up at Ranger Smith’s house. He knocks on the door. Smith opens the door and is surprised to see Yogi.]
- Ranger Smith: Yogi?! [sternly] Here to confess something?
- Yogi: I need to have a little man-to-bear talk with you, Mr. Ranger, sir. [enters the cabin]
- Smith: [confused] Why... sure, Yogi. Come on in.
- [Ranger Smith follows Yogi in the cabin. Inside, Ranger Smith is pouring Yogi tea in a cup made from a pinecone. Outside, Boo Boo passes the window, groaning.]
- Yogi: I know we've had our problems in the past, Mr. Ranger. But I'm asking you to set aside our differences, for the sake of the little one.
- Ranger Smith: You know, there was a time when I didn’t think I could talk to you on an adult level. I'm proud of the concern you're showing for your young charge. You're showing me a very mature side of yourself. We've had our rows in the past, have we? But now, I feel that we're pals. You’re almost an equal to me, Yogi Bear. Well, mister, what punishment do you have in mind for Boo Boo?
- Yogi: Actually, sir, I was thinking more along the lines of a re-type-ward.
- Ranger Smith: Hmm, a reward, eh? That's... rather unorthodox. [Boo Boo groans outside] Well, I guess we could give it a try. [the telephone rings] 'Scuse me a sec. [answers the phone] Hello...?
- Chief: [irately] Smith!
- Ranger Smith: [startled] Oh, uh... Hi, chief! What’s up?
- Chief: There's a little rogue bear running amuck! He's setting a bad example for the other animals!
- Ranger Smith: Y-Yes, sir, I know! I was considering options to alleviate the matter.
- Chief: OPTIONS?! You will take the ONLY correct action to this matter! You know what the ranger's handbook says to do with rogue bears?!
- Ranger Smith: [sweats nervously] Y-Yes, sir.
- Chief: Then do it. NOW!!!
- [Smith hangs up, gets up from his seat, and sternly looks at Yogi, who smiles at Smith.]
- Ranger Smith: [remorseful] I'm sorry, Yogi, but I have to do my duty.
- [Smith grabs a shotgun and heads for the door, but Yogi stands in his way, attempting to push him back.]
- Yogi: You can't do it, sir! Not to Boob!
- Ranger Smith: Out of my way, Yogi.
- Yogi: Think of the past! You remember when Boo Boo was born?!
- Ranger Smith: Of course, I do, Yogi.
- Yogi: Who delivered him?
- Ranger Smith: Uh, I did.
- Yogi: How much hair did he have?
- Ranger Smith: [gulps] None.
- Yogi: And what about his eyes?
- Ranger Smith: [voice breaking] They were pink... and swollen. I know your game, Yogi.
- Yogi: How cute was he?
- Ranger Smith: [starts crying] Really cute, Yogi.
- Yogi: And how 'bout the time you were sick with the group? Who nursed you back to health?
- Ranger Smith: Boo Boo did.
- Yogi: Remember when I stole your birthday cake? Who chewed up pinecones and wrapped them in moth wings just for you?
- Ranger Smith: [unable to hold back tears] Boo Boo did! Why wasn't it you, Yogi?! Why didn’t you go wild?! It'd be easy then!
- [Yogi and Smith stop against the door. They hear slurping and growling. They look down. Boo Boo's tongue slides in from under the door.]
- Smith: [gasps] It's Boo Boo! [aims his shotgun down at the tongue] I'm sorry, Yogi.
- Yogi: [grabs the shotgun] I can't let you do it, sir!
- [Yogi attempts to pull the gun away from Boo Boo. A struggle ensues between Yogi and Smith.]
- Ranger Smith: [groans] Let go, Yogi!
- [The struggle continues for a while.]
- Ranger Smith: YOU THINK I WANT THIS ANY MORE THAN YOU?! I HATE this thing!!! I'm a RANGER, Yogi! First and foremost! CAN YOU UNDERSTAND THAT?! This isn't just for Boo Boo's sake! What about all the other bears?! What of them?! What if they follow Boo Boo's example?! Are we gonna let the forest go to ruin for the sake of one little bear we both love?! Tell me to let the bears down!
- [Yogi ponders about this.]
- Ranger Smith: Oh, your own kind, Yogi! [wheezes] Step aside, Yogi Bear. Let's be done with it.
- [Yogi hangs his head and walks away from Smith, about to shoot Boo Boo. Smith's finger trembles against the trigger of the gun. Yogi, not wanting his friend to get killed, starts to panic. He looks around, then gets an idea. He reaches for a lamp and strikes it over Smith's head, causing him to drop the gun. Smith clutches his head and yells in pain. Yogi throws Smith to the floor and the two start fighting.]
- Yogi: No hard feelings sir, but this is for Boo Boo! [raises his fist]
- Ranger Smith: Yogi, no!
- [Yogi punches Smith in the face. The two rapidly throw punches at each other. Boo Boo opens the door, sees the two fighting, and gasps in horror.]
- Boo-Boo: Mr. Ranger! Yogi! Fighting!
- [Boo-Boo runs up to the fight, and attempts to break it up, but gets punched across the air, and hits the wall. Yogi and Smith stop fighting once they realize what's happened.]
- Yogi and Smith: Boo Boo!
- [Yogi and Smith run up to Boo-Boo. Yogi tries to shake Boo-Boo awake. Smith splashes Boo-Boo with water. Soon, Boo-Boo awakes, back to his normal self.]
- Boo-Boo: Has anyone seen my bow tie?
- Yogi and Smith: Boo Boo's back!
- [Yogi and Smith hug, when all of a sudden, Boo-Boo rips a piece off of Smith's pants. He bashfully hides the piece behind his back as Smith reprimandingly pokes his nose.]
- Boo-Boo: Gosh. I must have reverted.
