Paramahansa Maharshi Nagendranath Bhaduri

(1846-1926), also known as "Bhaduri Mahasaya" and "The Levitating Saint" was a renowned spiritual figure from West Bengal, India.

His journey began as an Acharya of the Baluhati branch of the Adi Brahmo Samaj. In 1881, Nagendranath met Sri Ramakrishna at Dakshineswar. However, his spiritual quest led him to embrace rigorous austerities, particularly Hatha Yoga and Pranayama, in a secluded cave in Monghyr.

Nagendranath Bhaduri, through his personal example, spiritual teachings, and prophetic words, significantly influenced Paramahansa Yogananda's spiritual development and the trajectory of his mission to introduce the teachings of Yoga and Kriya Yoga to the Western world.

Nagendranath founded the "Sanatana Dharma Pracharini Sabha" in 1891 and later in life became a sannyasi (renunciant), traveling India and spreading the message of Sanatana Dharma. His teachings emphasized meditating on one's chosen deity, with regular practice of Japa and Dhyana.

This organization, later known as "Nagendra Math" under the guidance of his disciple Dhyanaprakash Brahmachari, published a compilation of songs called Paramartha Sangitabali. This compilation includes three songs composed by Nagendranath himself, which were reportedly sung in the presence of Sri Ramakrishna.

• Suffering is of two types: physical and spiritual. Suffering attached to the body, for example, Suffering which is caused by disease is physical sorrow. Suffering related to the mind caused through ignorance, illusion, delusion, infatuation etc, is spiritual Suffering. The doctor treats physical Suffering but only the holy and saintly man can treat spiritual Suffering.
