Ramcharitmanas

Rāmcharitmānas is an epic poem in Awadhi language, composed by the 16th-century Indian bhakti poet Tulsidas (c. 1497–1623). The word Ramcharitmanas literally means "Lake of the deeds of Rama". It is considered one of the greatest works of Hindu literature.

• It is sinful to even see the face of a man who does not feel his friend's pain. Treat your own mountain-like pain as though it were a speck. Treat your friend's speck-like pain as though it were a mountain.
  • "जे न मित्र दुख होहिं दुखारी। तिन्हहि बिलोकत पातक भारी॥ निज दुख गिरि सम रज करि जाना। मित्रक दुख रज मेरु समाना॥" Je na mitra dukh hohi dukhari, Tinhi bilokat patak bhari ॥ Nij dukh giri sam raj kari jana, Mitrak dukh raj meru samana ॥
