Note: Merrill made Bennettiodendron brevipes as his type, but this is now in synonymy with B. leprosipes, which was earlier described as Xylosma leprosipes Clos, Ann. Sci. Nat., Bot., sér. 4 8: 230. (1857) and therefore has precedence. In addition, the genus may not be monotypic, but it has not been monographed or subject to analysis outside of the Flora of China (2010).
