- Type locality: D.R. CONGO: Mayombe, Luki Biosphere Res., 5°37ʹ16.7ʺ S 13°05ʹ54.8ʺ E, 266 m.
- Holotype: TAU, ♀, 24.ix.2007, D. Debakker, J.P. Michiels.
- Etymology: This species is named for the subspherical shape of the male scape.
