Name
Spitosa Espeland, Huang & Inayoshi, 2024.
Type species: Taxila fylla Westwood, 1851, by subsequent designation [fixed through Art. 67.8 of the ICZN 1999].
[Gender: feminine defined by Huang et al. 2014: 297]
Synonymy
- Sospita Hewitson, 1861: Text [See Note] (Junior objective homonym of Sospita Mulsant, 1846: 137 [= Coleoptera]).
- Type species: Taxila fylla Westwood, 1851: 422, by monotypy.
- Sospita [sic!] in Evans, 1927: 126 (incorrect subsequent spelling)
- Abisara (Sospita) Hewitson, 1861; e.g. Fruhstorfer, 1914: 780
- Spitosa Espeland, Huang, & Inayoshi, 2024: 296; in Huang, Inayoshi & Espeland 2024. [Replacement name as "nom. nov."]
[Note, the original text of Hewitson is unclear to page number and only briefly mentions "Fylla" in the text, misattributing it to Stoll, saying "It will contain, besides the figures of the Plate, Fylla of the "Genera" Echerus of Stoll and Tepahi of Boidduval". Hewitson's, 1861 own index refers only to page numbers of plates, but states "Sospita I" on Pl. 46 on p. 91/92 and "Sospita II" or III on Pl. 52-53 as p.104-106. The page number for Hewitson's associated text it stated as p.75 in Huang, Inayoshi & Espeland 2024. Earlier, e.g. Moore, 1902: 77 attributes the genus as as "p.91 (1861)", then the recombination Sospita fylla 78 as "p.91 (1861)". Fruhstorfer, 1914: 780 attributes the Sospita to Hewitson and else says "Type: S. fylla Hew"]
