Holotype: QCAZ 9174, adult ♂, collected by E. E. Tapia, J. Loe Deichmann and A. F. Jiménez on 19 April 2009.
Type locality: “Ecuador: Provincia Zamora Chinchipe: Las Orquídeas, 4 km from río Nangaritza (4°15'47.52"S, 78°41'27.93"W, 1843 m)”.
