Inherited from Ancient Greek ἄστρον (ástron). The figurative sense of "fate" since Mediaeval times. The contemporary terms of the emblem or geometrical shape, semantic loan from French étoile.[1] For "Star Wars", semantic loan from English Star Wars[2]
