Learned borrowing from Koine Greek ἀσύλληπτος (asúllēptos) with semantic loan from French incompréhensible as an intensifier.[1] By surface analysis, α- (a-) +‎ σύλληπ- (from σύλληψη (sýllipsi)) +‎ -τος (-tos).
