From λόχος (lókhos, ambush) +‎ -άω (-áō).

  1. (transitive) to lie in wait for, waylay, ambush
  2. (intransitive) to lie in wait or ambush
  3. (transitive) to prepare an ambush on (a road etc.)

Conjugation

The Epic forms λοχόωσι (lokhóōsi, third plural present active indicative) and λοχόωντες (lokhóōntes, present active participle, masculine nominative plural) are also attested.
