Ancient Greek
Alternative forms
Etymology
Traditionally derived from λύγξ (lúnx, “lynx”) + οὖρον (oûron, “urine”), as the stone was thought to be the urine of the lynx. However, the presence of the word λογούριον (logoúrion, “glass”) rather shows that this is a Pre-Greek word.
