μάγαδις
Ancient Greek
Etymology
Probably from Lydian, while others have proposed a Semitic origin. Furnée compares the word with πηκτίς (pēktís, “Lydian stringed instrument”) and reconstructs a pre-form *μάγδις (*mágdis).
