μυστίλη
Ancient Greek
Alternative forms
- μιστίλη (mistílē), μιστύλλη (mistúllē)
Etymology
Formation like ζωμίλη (zōmílē), κονίλη (konílē) and μαρίλη (marílē). Probably from Pre-Greek, in view of the suffix -ῑλη. Both the alternative forms are due to confusion with μιστύλλω (mistúllō, “to cut up”).
