Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *ksu-ró-s (razor), from *ksew- (to scrape, sharpen, shave). Exact cognate with Proto-Indo-Iranian *kšurás (dagger, razor); see also the verbal formation from the same root ξύω (xúō, to scrape).[1]
