Borrowed from Italian pasticcio,[1] from Vulgar Latin *pasticium, from *pastīcius (“of dough”), from Late Latin pasta (“paste; pasta”), from Ancient Greek παστά (pastá, “barley porridge”), from παστός (pastós, “sprinkled with salt”).
