πούτσος
Greek
Alternative forms
- πούτσα f (poútsa)
Etymology
Uncertain, possibly from Proto-Slavic *buca (“bulge, protrusion”). Compare Proto-Germanic *putōną (“to stick, stab”), which is of uncertain origin. Possibly ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *bud- (“to shoot, sprout”), itself speculated to be of substrate origin.
