πυσμοι

Pre-Samnite

Etymology

Perhaps from Proto-Italic *kʷoi, from Proto-Indo-European *kʷos. Alternatively, it has been connected to Oscan posmom and Latin postumus, both from *postəmmos (last). Calabrese rejects this analysis, arguing that the meaning of "last" does not make sense in the context of the inscription.
