Etymology

From a *bʰ-extension of Proto-Indo-European *dʰewH- (mist, smoke, haze).[1] Compare also τῦφος (tûphos, fever), τυφόω (tuphóō, delude), Τυφῶν (Tuphôn, Typhon).
