банна

Ket

Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Yeniseian *xʷin-gakʷ (sleeve, literally double-opening), with the second part partially dropped later by reanalysis. Cognate with Yug бенгоу (bɛ́ngou), where the original compound survives and Kott haipen, where the Kott speakers added *qaxʷ (fur) and dropped the *gakʷ, similar to Ket.
