бищи

Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Avaro-Andian *bišši, from Proto-Northeast Caucasian *biččē. It may be related to Hurrian 𒉿𒋢 (pi-su, to rejoice) and Urartian [script needed] (piṣ-, to rejoice). Akin to Lak биччи (bič:i).

Over time, it was replaced by Бечед (Bečed) and thus fell out of use. However, the oblique form of Бечед (Bečed) ( бича- ) reveals a trace inherited from бищи (bišši).
