Etymology

By surface analysis, добъ́р (dobǎ́r, “good”) +‎ ве́чер m or f (véčer, “evening”). Whilst вечер (večer) now behaves as a feminine noun, in the past it was also a masculine noun, hence the masculine form of добър (dobǎr).
