еиӈ

Ket

Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Yeniseian *kej-Vŋʷ (going, action nominal), from *-kej (to go). Cognate with Yug эйить (éjitʲ, to let go, letting go), Kott anuga (to go, going), Kott hêjaŋ (to go, going) and Assan ujáha (to go, going).

Doublet of къʼй (kʌˀj, walking, action nominal), where the onset *k- from Proto-Yeniseian is retained with the retraction of the vowel *-e- into -ʌ-.
