поуех
Russian
Etymology
Formed similarly to понае́х (derogatory term for an immigrant to Russia, especially to its capital city Moscow), but with prefix у- (u-) the neologism is getting the opposite meaning (an immigrant from Russia). See уе́хать.
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): [pəʊˈjex]
Noun
поуе́х • (poujéx) m anim (genitive поуе́ха, nominative plural поуе́хи, genitive plural поуе́хов)
- (derogatory, neologism, Internet slang) immigrant from Russia, especially during the 2020s Russian invasion of Ukraine
Usage notes
Used by both pro-Putinist Russians and Russian democratic opposition. The oppositionists tend to use it for immigrants who are speaking from 'convinced' anti-Russian positions, even if they had positive or neutral views on the Putinist regime while living in Russia.
