тәү
Bashkir
Etymology
From Proto-Turkic *teb (“time; initial, early”).
Compare to Tatar тәү (täw, “initial, first”); Southern Altai тем (tem, “time”), Shor тем (tem, “time”), Tuvan теппиже (teppije, “ahead of time, before due time”).
Alternatively, Akhmetyanov suggests derivation from a hypothesized *täg (“initial, first”), citing Kyrgyz тек (tek, “origin, social background”).
