  1. plural indefinite form of ביצת כינה‎ (nit, egg of a louse)
  2. (Talmud) nits or some insect species

Usage notes

According to a Talmudic opinion, lice are only spontaneously generated and therefore cannot have eggs. Because of it, nits must be considered as an insect species not related to lice. Alternatively, ביצי כינים in the Talmud may refer to an insect species, which is not related to nits at all.
