ביקש / בִּקֵּשׁ • (bikésh) (pi'el construction, passive counterpart בוקש / בֻּקַּשׁ)

1. (transitive) to ask for, request

   ביקשתי ממנה לבוא איתי לטמפה והיא סירבה.

   I asked her to come with me to Tampa and she said no.

   (literally, “I asked from her to come with me to Tampa and she said no.”)
