בערזע
Yiddish
Etymology
Borrowed from Dutch beurs, from French bourse, from Late Latin bursa, ultimately from Ancient Greek βύρσα (búrsa). Cognate to and possibly borrowed from German Börse. Compare Macedonian берза (berza), Serbo-Croatian bȅrza. Doublet of בירזשע (birzhe).
Pronunciation
- IPA(key): /ˈbɛrzə/
Noun
בערזע • (berze) f, plural בערזעס (berzes)
Usage notes
- Note that unlike in English, Yiddish does not differentiate between the market and the physical place where the stock trading takes place.
