חיזק / חִזֵּק • (khizék) (pi'el construction, passive counterpart חוזק / חֻזַּק)

1. to strengthen, reinforce
   • Tanach, 2 Kings 12:9, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:

     וּלְבִלְתִּי חַזֵּק אֶת־בֶּדֶק הַבָּיִת

     ul'viltí khazék et-bédek habáyit

     neither repair the breaches of the house

2. (חַזֵּק, chazék) masculine singular imperative of חִזַּק
   • Tanach, Hosea 7:15, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:

     וַאֲנִי יִסַּרְתִּי חִזַּקְתִּי זְרוֹעֹתָם

     va'aní yisárti khizákti z'ro'otám

     Though I have trained and strengthened their arms

   • Tanach, Nehemiah 6:9, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:

     וְעַתָּה חַזֵּק אֶת־יָדָי

     v'atá khazék et-yadáy

     But now, strengthen Thou my hands.
