A regular Oghuric reflex of the Proto-Turkic *okïdïm, a verbal conjugation of *okï-. By surface analysis, *okï- (“to read”) +‎ *-ti (evidential past tense) +‎ *-im (first person singular verbal suffix).

*-d- > *-r- sound shift is regular in Oghur languages. Compare Chuvash вуларăм (вула-рă-м) (vularăm, "I read.") for the equivalent phrase in a surviving Oghur language.

This term is the only known attested word in the Khazar language.

This reading of the manuscript, interpreting it as using a ligature of the Hebrew letter ח (h) and the tamgha letter 𐰂 (a), is suggested by Marcel Erdal^[1] and thus adopted so here.
