      Eternal master, who reigned supreme, before any creation was created.
    • c. 845, Pesikta Rabbati, chapter 47:
      שמא אתה גדול מן האדם יציר (כפים) [כפיי] שעל מצוה אחת שביטל גזרתי עליו מיתה ועל תולדותיו
      Perhaps you are greater than Adam, [who is] a creation of my hands; in place of one commandment that he set aside, I decreed death upon him and his descendants.
