Etymology

The least unbelievable theory has it derived from כינור (lyre), from Proto-Semitic *kinnār-, from Proto-Hurro-Urartian *kinnar (lyre), referring to the shape of the lake. The city was very ancient, possibly a focus of Hurrian influence,
