Etymology
פֿרוי (froy, “miss; woman”) (pronounced *פֿראַו (*frau) in Western Yiddish) suffixed with a diminutive cognate to ־עלע (-ele),[1] morphologically (but not semantically) equivalent to German Fräulein.
