Etymology

Corrupted from Middle Persian [Term?] (/⁠byarš⁠/), borrowed from Avestan [Term?] (/⁠byaršan⁠/). The corruption was possibly an attempt to relate the name to ارمن (arman, Armenia), in order to present the ruling house of Armenia as descending from Kay-Qubad.[1]
