Inherited from Middle Hindi آندھی (āndhy /⁠āndhī⁠/) (c. 1530),[1] from Sauraseni Prakrit [Term?], from Sanskrit अन्धिका (andhikā), a compound of अन्ध (andha) +‎ इका (ikā).[2]
