بريئة
Arabic
Etymology 1
Considered to be the original form of بَرِيَّة (bariyya) by Sibawayh, but sometimes interpreted as a hypercorrection due to the loss of most glottal stops in Old Hijazi.
Noun
بَرِيئَة • (barīʔa) f
- (sometimes proscribed) alternative form of بَرِيَّة (bariyya, “creature; creation”)
Usage notes
Considered incorrect by Sibawayh, but used in the Qur'anic reading tradition of Nafiʽ al-Madani.
