Etymology

Borrowed from Aramaic חָבִיתָא / ܚܳܒ݂ܺܝܬ݂ܳܐ (ḥāḇīṯā, jug, amphora) as are also Hebrew חָבִית (ḥāḇī́ṯ), Ge'ez ኅበይ, ሕበይ (ḫəbäy, ḥəbäy), ultimately from Akkadian 𒂁𒉺𒅁𒌉 (ḫābû, ḫāpû, jug, amphora) of obscure origin.
