Etymology

Morphologically from دڭز (deñiz, “sea”) +‎ ـلی (-li), but this is probably a mispronunciation of the older form طوڭوزلی (Doñuzlu), from طوڭوز (doñuz, “pig, swine”) +‎ ـلی (-lu).
