Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *tȫn- (to turn back, return);[1] cognate with Azerbaijani dönmək, Karakhanid [script needed] (tȫnmēk) and Yakut төнүн (tönün).

Verb

دونمك • (dönmek)

  1. (intransitive) to turn, rotate, spin, gyrate, revolve, to move around an axis through itself
  2. (intransitive) to return, turn back, come back, to come or go back to a place or person
  3. (intransitive) to swerve, deviate, to wander from any line, course, rule, or duty prescribed
