Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit 𑀲𑁄𑀮𑀳 (solaha), from Vedic Sanskrit *षोळश (*ṣoḷaśa) (compare Sanskrit षोडश (ṣóḍaśa)), from Proto-Indo-Aryan *swáẓḍaśa.
